This tutorial will give you easy and helpful techniques in applying mineral makeup base. The good thing  with a mineral makeup is that you don’t need to use different products. You can just use different brushes with the same product to get a different finish or a different amount of coverage.

Before applying your mineral foundation, it is recommended to prepare your skin. Make sure that you have your skin nice and hydrated. Apply moisturizer to get rid of any surface leaks of dead or dry skin. This leaves really nice smooth palette to work with.

Applying a little bit of eye cream to your under eye area will give a nice smooth area to work with. With this,  you don’t have to worry about the concealer settling in any fine lines or wrinkles. Just take a little bit on a ring finger and pat it around the orbital bone. With these techniques, you will look a lot better because your makeup will only look as good as your skin underneath.

Step 1:

Begin your makeup base by applying mineral foundation. It is recommended to use a kabuki brush.  A brush like this has denser bristles than a usual powder brush. A kabuki brush picks up more of the pigment, giving you better coverage when applied. Take a small amount to put in your lid, take the kabuki brush, and swirl. It is recommended to swirl really, really well. This forces the minerals up into the brush rather than sitting on the surface of the bristles when applied to the skin. Then, tap out any excess.

When you look at the brush, there shouldn’t be a lot of minerals sitting on the surface. If you have too much on the brush, you can give it another good swirl and tap it off.  You’ll end up with a little bit of a splotch if you applied too much which will be really hard to buff out. It will also look a little uneven and make the face a little bit cakey. Be sure that you really swirl your brush in and tap off any excess so that the result will look a lot more natural.

Step 2:

Now, we’re going to conceal with our mineral makeup. In this tutorial we’re still using just the mineral foundation, not a separate concealer or another product. Just take a small amount of your mineral foundation. Using a concealer brush, swirl it in the minerals and work it up. Find areas on your face, if there is or are any, that you missed, has blemish, or something that you want a little bit more coverage to.

Take the concealer brush and the mineral foundation and just buff a small amount. Begin applying a little bit around the nose. If you have any blemishes, minor scars, or redness, you could just apply in the same buffing technique and it will cover those up nicely.
